During June of 1996, Jerry Tong and his adult children, Bill, Betty &
Dolly, visited China. For Dad, it was his first trip back in 50 years,
and for his children, it was their first. The 9 city tour package
included, in chronological order: Shanghai, Wuxi, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Beijing,
Xian, Guilin, Canton, and Hong Kong. Along the way, we also sailed
up the Grand Canal, and visited the Great Wall of China. At the conclusion
of the tour, we went well off the beaten tourist path to rural Taishan
County, in southern Guangdong Province, to Dad's ancestral village where
he grew up. With three still cameras, we managed to take over 500
photos, which were digitized and posted at this web site. Each of
the above destinations has a separate photo page, with thumbnails that
enlarge into full-sized images. Over time, I will add narrative
text to some of the pictures, so that visitors will also get some information,
